7 Days Wildebeest great value migration
Overview
This is a 7-day safari trip to Tanzania, starting in Arusha. in Arusha National Park and then to Serengeti National Park, famous for its large animal migration and lion population where you will take a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti, visit Bologonja Springs and Olduvai Gorge, known as the “Cradle of Man” due to the discovery of early human remains. You will visit Ngorongoro Crater, the largest inactive, unbroken and unfilled volcanic caldera in Tanzania, which is known for its diverse wildlife and annual wildebeest and zebra migration. Then visit Empakaai and the Maasai people communities. On the sixth day, you will visit Kilimanjaro National Park, home to Africa’s highest mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro and a variety of wild animals and on the seventh day, you will depart Tanzania.
DAY 1: Into the safari capital of Tanzania
Your safari adventure begins as soon as you land in Arusha, Tanzania. After a short drive to the designated lodge, you will visit Arusha National Park, which is known for its stunning landscapes and Mt Meru. The park offers a variety of wildlife, including black-and-white colobus monkeys, hippos, giraffes, buffaloes, bushbucks, hyenas, leopards, and over 400 species of birds. You will have a full day game drive and guided nature walks, during which you will explore the park’s diverse landscapes, such as the Meru Crater, Jekukumia River, Ngurdoto Crater, Momella Lakes, and have a stopover for lunch. In the evening, you will visit the N’giresi village to learn about the Wa-arusha tribe and their culture. Overnight stay at the lodge.
DAY 2: Travel to Serengeti national park
Travel to Serengeti National Park after an early morning breakfast. The park is known for its large annual animal migration of wildebeest, zebras and other animals, as well as the largest lion population in Africa. After checking in, you will take a nature walk around the lodge and have lunch. In the afternoon, you will go on a game drive in 4×4 vehicles to witness the migration and see lions in their natural habitat. You will also visit the Maasai people to learn about their culture and traditional ways of life. Overnight stay at the lodge.
DAY 3: Hot air balloon, Bologonja springs and Oldvai gorge.
Take an early morning hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti to see the animals from a unique perspective. After the ride, you will visit Bologonja Springs, a secluded area in the park known for its resident and migratory animals and diverse birdlife. You will have lunch in the area before heading to Olduvai Gorge, known as the “Cradle of Man” due to the discovery of early human remains. Here, you will learn about the origins and way of life of early man and see preserved human and animal fossils and stone artifacts. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 4: Travel to Ngorongoro crater.
Enroute to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, home to the Ngorongoro Crater, known for its diverse wildlife including the “big 5” game and annual wildebeest and zebra migration. In the morning, you will go on a game drive in the crater, passing through lush forests and seeing grazing herbivores and predators. You may also see pink flamingos and hippos around Lake Magadi. You will have lunch at one of the Ngorongoro restaurants before continuing your game drive and possibly seeing the “big 5” animals. Return to your accommodation for a sunset view and candlelit dinner
DAY 5: Visit Empakaai crater and cultural tour
Visit Empakaai Crater, known for its steep slopes, lush forests, birdlife, and flamingos at the lakeshore. You will hike around the crater and have lunch in nearby food parlors. Afterward, you will visit the Maasai people communities, known for their traditional culture and customs, and learn about their hunting practices and relationship with the surrounding vegetation. You will also gain insight into their customs, norms, and beliefs through cultural music and dances. Return to the lodge for an overnight stay
DAY 6: Into the heart of Kilimanjaro national park.
Kilimanjaro National Park is a home to Africa’s highest mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro and a variety of wild animals such as elephants, Cape buffaloes, black rhinos, giraffes, leopards, hyenas and baboons. You will go on a full-day game drive and have the opportunity to see the “big five” animals and enjoy the stunning montane vegetation. After lunch, you will visit the Chagga homesteads, the wealthiest and most highly organized Bantu speaking people of Tanzania, to learn about their culture, customs, and traditional way of life through child naming, birth and other rituals. You will also learn about the importance of local herbs in medicine and how they survive on farming. End the day with a hiking trail back to the designated lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 7: FAREWELL Tanzania.
You will depart Tanzania after breakfast, returning to the previously agreed drop off point.
