This isn’t just a white-water adventure though. Your gorilla rafting escapade seamlessly blends heart-pounding thrills with awe-inspiring wildlife encounters. After conquering the Birira’s exciting rapids, you’ll trade your raft for sturdy boots and embark on a thrilling trek through the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Here, amidst the dense rainforest, lies the opportunity to come face-to-face with gentle giants – the mountain gorillas. Witnessing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat is an unforgettable experience, a testament to nature’s raw beauty and power.

Arrival at the Airport
Depending on the time of arrival, you will be picked up at the airport and transferred to the hotel in Entebbe town. You will check in for a night at the nearby hotel.
Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
In the morning travel to Queen Elizabeth’s western part of Uganda via Fort Portal Kasese for about 6-7 hours.
Along the way, you will have a few stopovers, one at Fort Portal to visit the cultural site Mabere Nganyinamwiru. Also, visit the royal palace, visit souvenir shops, and have lunch in Fort Portal as well.
Reach the park in the late afternoon. Check in to your safari lodge, relax, and unwind for the next day’s adventures. Have dinner and then spend an Overnight.
Queen Elizabeth Game Drive – Birira River gorilla Rafting
Begin your day with a delicious cup of coffee/tea before getting on with the game drive on different trails. The Kasenyi trail is a great opportunity to see various animals like water bucks, Uganda Kobs, elephants, buffaloes, lions, warthogs as well as various birds.
After the game drive, have a lunch break and then take on the next journey to Birira River in Rukungiri where you will be given a rafting briefing, safety gear, and kayakers to use.
You will board an inflatable boat, holding 2-6 people with a guide. This activity will take 3-4 hours on a lower section of the Birira River, through beautiful banana plantations and lush green hills rafting in the jungle.
We will end this rafting trip with an evening dinner at the lodge near the park and prepare for another fun adventure on a night stay.
Transfer to Bwindi and batwa community cultural encounter
Upon arrival in the park after a 5-hour drive, you will have lunch and head on for a cultural visit to the Batwa communities an opportunity to experience the culture of one of Africa’s indigenous tribes. Taste the flavourful tea made from forest leaves, a beverage for the Batwa people.
This unique experience will give you insight into the history and lives of this marginalized community. Visit the rest of the community on the outskirts of the forest, the women’s group that does crafts and sells food, community schools and support community charities if possible.
Enjoy the rest of the evening at the booked lodge on a campfire dinner at the park.
Gorilla trekking and encounter
Early morning after breakfast, the experience starts and takes a full day depending on the time you take to find these giants. Here you are being briefed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority guides. Learn about the activity guidelines and expected experience, dos and don’ts when trekking; for a heightened experience.
The jungle treks are led by professional guides through the thick forest. Optional, there are multi-lingual guides; you can book for one in advance at a cost.
During gorilla, you will get a chance to see various gorillas in a family. Monitoring the way they feed, move, rest, and also how they communicate, offers the best safari experience ever.
Immediately, after the trek, continue to the park headquarters and get back to the lodge for an evening relaxation and dinner. At the park headquarters, you will be given a gorilla trekker certificate; a token to take back home from your African unforgettable adventure.
Departure and transfer to Entebbe
As we mark the end of this fun and adventurous trip, you will travel back to Entebbe airport to catch a flight back home. via the Mbarara- Masaka road, you will have a stopover at the equator crafts center- kayabwe.
Here you can immerse into the Uganda culture and heritage exhibited in the different paintings, traditional attires, well woven crafts like sandals and bags. A simple talk with the vendors is insightful as you learn more about the African culture and the different materials used.
Depending on the time you reach Entebbe or the time for your flight schedule, optionally, you can enjoy Entebbe beaches to learn more about Uganda’s vibrant lifestyle.
