4 Days Gorilla Tracking Safari
Overview
Gorillas are herbivorous, predominantly ground-dwelling great apes that inhabit the tropical forests of equatorial Africa. The genus Gorilla is divided into two species: the eastern gorilla and the western gorilla, and some of the subspecies include Cross River Gorilla, Mountain Gorilla, Western Lowland Gorilla, Eastern Lowland Gorilla, Cross River Gorilla Mountain Gorilla, Western Lowland Gorilla, and Eastern Lowland Gorilla.
DAY 1: TRAVEL TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK
Bwindi Impenetrable is located in south-western Uganda, at the junction of the plain and mountain forests,its known for its exceptional biodiversity, with more than 160 species of trees and over 100 species of ferns with almost half of the world’s gorillas and rich culture of the Batwa people.
Spark off a full day excursion of an enjoyable journey of endless discoveries through the breathtaking scenic views of nature around the park. Break the journey as you enroute to the Equator line crossing to take memorable pictures and also participate in the non- scientific mind catching experiments like standing in between the two world hemispheres formed by the Equator. After the stop over lunch, continue to Bwindi and enjoy a wonderful overnight stay at the lodge in preparation for the next strenuous day.
DAY 2: GORILLA TREKKING AND TRANSFER TO MGHAHINGA NATIONAL PARK
After the early morning delicious breakfast, explore as you hike deep into the impenetrable trees of the park in pursuit of the humanoids also known as the human’s closest relative. Get an insight of their different fascinating characteristics that are homologous to human ways of life.
Later in the day, whisk away to mgahinga National park the closest neighbor of Bwindi in the Southwestern to be welcomed by the mesmerizing views of the park. Enjoy an overnight stay and an appetizing dinner at the lodge.
DAY 3: BATWA EXPERIENCE AND GORILLA TREKKING
Unleash your cultural curiosity as you amble into the Batwa community also known as the Forest Keepers since they were the earliest inhabitants of the area. Batwa will take you around their homesteads, thrill you with their cultural dances and music. Show you their means of survival through hunting and gathering. Also be amazed by their ways of building houses and other ways of life. After the stop over lunch, embark on another stannous but interesting adventure of trekking the gorillas. Plunge into the thick forest of the park to take a glimpse of the amazing gorillas and see how they are habituated. Spend the rest of the day admiring the stunning views of the park and then an overnight stray at the lodge.
DAY 4: GOLDEN MONKEY TREKKING AND DEPARTURE
In the morning, hike and plod through the forest in search for the endangered golden monkeys to concede their ways of life and behavior. The Golden monkeys are one of Uganda’s 20 primate species only found in Mgahinga Gorilla National park which is part of the Virunga Mountains. Compared with other monkey species, the golden monkeys are gorgeous in appearance. They have bright colored fur with long golden hair mixed with orange. Embark on the returning journey to the agreed drop off point.
