7 Days Turkey Ancient Cities Tour
Overview
This is a 7-day trip to Turkey that includes visits to ancient sites such as Xanthos, Letoon, Patara, Myra, Andriake, Phaselis, Perge, and Aspendos. The tour includes a boat tour of Kekova, swimming, and a cable car ride to the Tahtali Mountains. Accommodation is provided in Kas, Olympos and Antalya. The tour ends with a transfer to Antalya Airport or Bus Station for departure.
DAY 1: DALYAN
Visit Dalyan, a small town on the southwest coast of Turkey between Marmaris and Fethiye. Take a cruise down the Dalyan River, where you’ll see the Tombs of the Kings of Caunos. Next, visit the Dalyan Mud Baths, known for their healing properties, before heading to Iztuzu Beach, a protected area where loggerhead turtles lay their eggs. We end the day by returning to our hotel in Fethiye. After lunch we will head to Iztuzu Beach, a long sandy beach with shallow warm waters, also known as Turtle Beach, this area is protected as this is where the loggerhead turtles come to lay their eggs. In the evening you will return to your hotel in Fethiye
DAY 2: XANTHOS TO PATARA.
Visit ancient sites Xanthos and Letoon, capital of ancient Lydia, and Patara Ancient City. Xanthos is a 1st-degree archaeological site with carved inscriptions in multiple languages. Patara is an ongoing excavation built in 8th century BC and located near Turkey’s longest sandy beach. Then travel to Kas, known for its scuba diving and ancient ruins, and stay overnight in the city.
DAY 3: KEKOVA BOAT TOUR.
Embark on a boat tour of Kekova from Ucagiz Village Harbour. The waters are clear and turquoise and the area is protected due to its underwater antiquities. Enjoy lunch on board and have time for swimming before returning to our overnight accommodation in Kas.
DAY 4: MYRA AND ANDRIAKE.
Traverse the ancient city of Myra and the ancient harbor site of Andriake in the town of Demre. Myra is a 5th century BC city with rock-cut tombs, Roman theatres, and well-preserved relief work. Andriake has a museum housed in an old granary from the reign of Roman Emperor Hadrian. We also visit the church of St. Nicholas, named after the patron saint of sailors and the inspiration for Santa Claus. After the tour, overnight in Olympos.
DAY 5: PHASELIS ANCIENT CITY TOUR.
Head to the ancient city of Phaselis in the afternoon, after a leisurely breakfast. Phaselis was a 700 BC harbor town, with well-preserved ruins, including an aqueduct, agora, and main street with visible shops. We also stop for lunch in the traditional village of Ulupinar and take a cable car ride to the Tahtali Mountains for views of Antalya. Overnight in Antalya
DAY 6: PERGE AND ASPENDOS.
Start the day with a hearty breakfast before heading to the ancient cities of Perge and Aspendos. Perge, a former important city of Pamphylia, boasts extensive ruins including an agora and numerous Roman and Ionic columns. After lunch, visit Aspendos, known for its well-preserved theatre which is still used for performances today. Return to your hotel in Antalya in the evening and spend the rest of the day exploring and getting to know the local culture.
DAY 7: Departure.
After breakfast say farewell to the adventurous land of turkey as you transfer to Antalya Airport
