Overview
The trip is an 11-day safari adventure through Tanzania, visiting several national parks and conservation areas, including Arusha National Park, Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Empakaai Crater. The itinerary includes game drives, nature walks, cultural visits, hot air balloon rides, bird watching, and a visit to the Hadzabe tribe. The trip offers the opportunity to witness the different landscapes, wild animals, bird species, and the culture of the local tribes in Tanzania.
Day 1 Arrival in Tanzania
Your safari adventure begins as soon as you land in Arusha, Tanzania. Drive to a designated lodge, then continue on to Arusha National Park, where you’ll see stunning landscapes and Mt Meru. Enjoy a day game drive, encountering various wildlife, followed by guided nature walks. Explore the park’s natural features such as the Meru crater funnels, and finish the day with a visit to the N’giresi village to learn about the Wa-arusha tribe.
Day 2 : Intriguing Tarangire national park
Tarangire National Park, known for its diverse landscape, ancient Baobab trees, and large concentration of elephants. Enjoy a game drive and see a variety of wildlife, including lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, and antelopes. The park also offers a unique birding experience with over 400 species of birds. Take a picnic lunch and explore the park further, then head back to the lodge for dinner.
Day 3 : Nature walks and Cultural visits
Wake up to a delicious breakfast and head out for nature walks in the park. Observe wild animals on foot, take photos of the stunning scenery, and have a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, visit a local Masaai community to learn about their culture, customs, norms and beliefs, and how they use the surrounding vegetation. Head back to the lodge for an overnight stay.
Day 4 : Lake Manyara national park
Visit Lake Manyara National Park known for its lush acacia forest, giant figs and mahogany trees, baboons, blue monkeys, giraffes, elephants, impalas, buffaloes, hippos, tree climbing lions, flamingos, and various bird species. Early in the morning, go on a game drive in protected vehicles to observe the animals and learn about their characteristics, ways of life and habitats. Later in the afternoon, take a boat cruise to see the park’s scenic views and aquatic animals. Enjoy the sunset and spend the night at the lodge.
Day 5 : Tree walkways and Cultural visits
Take a thrilling adventure on a tree walkway for a bird’s-eye view of the park. Afterwards, visit a Masai community and learn about their culture, customs, and traditional practices. Explore their circular homes known as BOMBAS, and discover how they utilize the surrounding flora for medicine. Spend the night at the lodge.
Day 6: Transfer to Serengeti national park
Depart for the famous Serengeti National Park after breakfast. Enjoy the spectacular drive and a stop at Ngorongoro Crater for a view. The Serengeti is known for the largest annual animal migration and largest lion population. After checking in, take a nature walk and relax before an afternoon game drive in 4×4 vehicles. See the wildebeest migration and lions in their natural habitat. Visit a local Masaai community to learn about their culture, customs and traditional ways of life. Return to the lodge for an overnight stay.
Day 7:Hot air balloon, Bologonja springs and Oldvai gorge.
Take an early morning hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti to see the animals and landscapes from a different perspective. After the ride, visit Bologonja Springs, known for its resident and migratory animals, and Olduvai Gorge, considered the “cradle of man” where the oldest remains of early humans were discovered. Learn about the history of human occupation and see fossils and artifacts. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8:Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Head to Ngorongoro Conservation Area known for the Ngorongoro Crater and the “big 5” game, as well as wildebeest and zebra migrations. Take a game drive in the crater, where you can see grazing herbivores and predators, and depending on the time of year, flamingos at Lake Magadi. Also, see the big five and take photos of the natural scenery. Have a stop for lunch and enjoy bird watching before returning to the lodge for a sunset and candlelit dinner.
Day 9 : Empakaai crater and Cultural tour.
Empakaai Crater, known for its lush forest, ancient strangler figs and rich birdlife, and take a walk to the lakeshore where you can view water birds such as flamingos, circumnavigate the lake on foot to immerse yourself in the wild surroundings of the crater. Have a stop for lunch, then visit a local Masaai community, learn about their culture, customs and traditional practices. Return to the lodge for an overnight stay and early exit the next day towards Lake Eyasi for a unique cultural experience.
Day 10:Lake Eyasi and the Hadzabe tribe
Visit Lake Eyasi, a salt lake in the Great Rift Valley known for its seasonal shallow endorheic salt lake. Early in the morning, search for the Hadzabe tribe, one of the last true nomadic tribes in Africa. Join them in their daily morning activities such as hunting or fruit gathering, and learn about their way of life. This is an off-the-beaten-track experience with unique photographic opportunities.
Day 11 : Departure
