Overview

This 6-day gorilla-chimpanzee trekking safari is the best opportunity for all wildlife lovers to enjoy the thrill of their lives in the wild of the Ugandan game parks.
The first day of the safari will include the pick-up from the airport and the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park. If your flight comes later in the day, you will have to get checked in to the hotel or enjoy Entebbe city until the next day for travel. The distance to the southwestern part of Uganda is approximately a 9-hour drive; however, it is also fun-filled with the sighting of the undulating hills, farmlands, local communities, and wildlife-like baboons among others.
From the second day to the fifth day, you will enjoy the thrill of gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park, which will start in the morning on day two. You will also have a fun-filled adventure within the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park for the tree-climbing lions, the game drive in the northern part of the park, and the kazinga channel boat cruises.
You will enjoy the crater drive to the north of Queen Elizabeth National Park, visiting historical sites like the Amabere Ganyina Mwiru caves in Fort Portal, the Tooro Kingdom, and the different crater lakes along the trail. You will connect to Kibale National Park for chimpanzee trekking, bigodi swamp nature walks, and community visits. And finally, you will return to Kampala via the Mubende route and enjoy your memory-filled flight home from Entebbe International Airport.

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, located in southwestern Uganda, is a pristine testament to nature’s raw power and beauty. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, this biodiverse rainforest with mountainous terrains offers an authentic encounter with the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. The allure of gorilla trekking has solidified Bwindi’s reputation as a must-visit destination for intrepid travelers. This ancient rainforest, complemented by its vast array of bird species, butterflies, and other fauna, provides visitors with a profound connection to the primordial roots of nature.
- Morning/Afternoon:
- Arrival at Entebbe International Airport. When you arrive at Entebbe International Airport, a tour guide will be waiting for you. Then you will hit the road and drive to Bwindi’s impenetrable national park which is approximately 8-9 hours from Kampala city. However, the distance is nothing to worry about as the country roads will serve you the best scenery of a Ugandan safari.
- We shall have a Stopover at the Equator for pictures and souvenirs. You can enjoy the experiments at the equator illustrated by a local guide, then the gift shops at Kayabwe have a lot you will admire to buy or even just take photos of.
- we shall continue to Mbarara and have a route at the Igongo Cultural Center. The restaurant provides savory dishes prepared with love for all customers. From the lunch stop, we shall continue the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park, reaching in the evening.
- Evening:
- Check into your chosen accommodation; we shall reach the lodge of your choice and check in, refresh from the long day’s drive and get ready for dinner.
- After the dinner, you will be given information on how the next day will start so that rest prepared for the early morning call.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
- Morning:
- Early breakfast: you shall have an early morning breakfast at the safari lodge, and then head to the Bwindi impenetrable National Parks Uganda Wildlife Authority headquarters for briefing before the actual trek commences. The briefing will include the SOPs for gorilla trekking and the required code of conduct when with the gorillas.
- Embark on the gorilla trekking adventure: after the briefing a guide will lead your way into the forest together with the forest rangers, to track the gorilla family you booked for. Gorilla Trekking can last from one to several hours depending on the location of the gorillas.
- Afternoon:
- Lunch: you will head back to the safari lodge for the lunch break and after relax as you enjoy the scenery of the jungle around you, and sightings of the monkeys and birds in the surrounding area.
- Evening:
- Dinner at the lodge: you will have dinner at the safari lodge, you can have a campfire for storytelling depending on the lodge booked and it is also optional. You will be briefed about the next day and have a good night’s rest.
Day 3: Bwindi to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Morning:
Breakfast at the lodge: at the lodge, you will enjoy your morning wake and the view from the window of your safari lodge. Then have breakfast at the lodge and warm up for the journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park: you will embark on the second journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ntungamo Road (approx. 4-5 hours drive). We will drive through the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth called Ishasha, enjoying the morning game drive where you will have a chance to see the famous tree-climbing lions, elephants, warthogs, antelopes, and buffaloes, among others.
Afternoon:
In the afternoon you will have time to Check into your chosen accommodation in Queen Elizabeth National Park, and also have lunch at the park restaurant, waiting for the evening game drive.
The evening game drive will offer you an opportunity to see the wildlife around the water ponds and also watch the animals as they nest back into their caves, tree branches, shrubs, and thickets.
Evening:
Dinner at the lodge: after the evening game drive you will drive back to the lodge where you will enjoy your dinner in the peaceful serenity of the wild, with the whispers of wilderness felling the moments in the dusk.
Rest and relax: After dinner, you will enjoy your night’s rest at the lodge and be ready for the next day.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking and Boat Cruise
Morning:
The morning breakfast at the lodge will start your day three in Queen Elizabeth National Park. After breakfast, you will proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park kyambura Gorge.
chimpanzee trekking: At Kyambura Gorge you will have a great time trekking for the chimpanzees in the deep strip of a rain forest within the vast savannah grasslands; one of the unique features of Queen Elizabeth National Park’s ecology. The chimpanzee trekking offers you a chance to see the chimps in their natural habitats and learn their behaviors like copulating, communication, and feeding patterns among others.
Afternoon:
Return to the lodge for lunch: after the thrilling chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge, you will get back on the road and to the lodge for lunch. After the umami and savory lunch at the lodge, embark on a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. Witness various water animals like hippos, crocodiles, and an array of bird species. After the thrill of the Kazinga Channel boat cruise, you will drive back to the lodge, and have another chance to glance at the wild animals along the way.
Evening:
Dinner at the lodge: at the lodge, you will have dinner from the restaurant of the lodge, a briefing about the next day, and a rest to take off the fatigue from the long day.
Rest and relax.
Day 5: Game Drive and Transfer to Kibale National park
From Queen Elizabeth National Park to Kibale Forest National Park. The road drive is full of beautiful scenery which is a great opportunity for photography.
Afternoon:
Check in the lodge in Kibale National Park. After we will have lunch at the lodge and after rest and refresh for a while before going on the nature walk in Bigodi Swamp.
Evening:
We will enjoy nature walks in the Bigodi swamp, this is a great opportunity for the birders to enjoy the different bird species that dwell in the swamp. You will, after that, enjoy the Bigodi community, such as the conservation effort done by the women in Bigodi such as weaving crafts which proceeds are used for conservation purposes. You will also enjoy the stories told by women in the community and how they strive with responsibilities.
After we will return to the lodge, refresh have dinner, and have a night’s rest thereafter.
Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking & Departure
Morning:
Breakfast at the lodge and check out of the lodge and prepare for your journey back to Kampala via the Mubende route. The journey is approximately 5 to 6 hours long, but it is also thrilling with views of the undulating hills of the Wild West, valleys, plantations farmlands, communities, and roadside markets among others.
We will have an en route to have lunch at Mubende, then continue to Kampala. You will be dropped off at Entebbe airport in the evening and wait for your back flight home.
