Karamoja History
The Karamojong are known as nomadic pastoralists from the Nilotic ethnic group. They are believed to have migrated and settled in the northern region of Uganda in the late 1600AD. Their special culture and norms were the most desired when they occupied the Moroto mountains till the present day.
The Karamojong language is known as Ngakarimojong, meaning “the old men sat down”. From the folklore, the language dates back to a time of migration when this group refused to travel further.
