Day 1: Travel to Murchison Falls National Park
We will start the trip by picking you up from your accommodation in Kampala or Entebbe and begin the drive to Murchison Falls National Park. The journey takes about 5-6 hours, but it is a scenic drive that will take you through villages and towns. We will make a few stops along the way to stretch our legs and grab a bite to eat. Once we arrive at the park, we will check into our lodge and have a brief orientation about the park and the activities we will be doing.
Day 2: Game Drive and Boat Cruise
The second day of our trip will be jam-packed with activities. We will start with an early morning game drive through the park. Murchison Falls National Park is home to a wide variety of animals, including lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and several species of antelopes. The game drive will take approximately 3-4 hours, and we will have a chance to see these animals up close in their natural habitat.
After the game drive, we will head back to the lodge for lunch and rest for a bit. In the afternoon, we will embark on a boat cruise along the Nile River to the base of the falls. This boat cruise is a fantastic opportunity to see wildlife such as crocodiles, hippos, and several bird species, including the famous Shoebill Stork. The highlight of the boat cruise is the view of the Murchison Falls from the bottom. The falls are a breathtaking sight as the Nile River is forced through a narrow gap in the rocks, creating a powerful waterfall.
Day 3: Nature Walk and Hike to the Top of the Falls
On day three of the trip, we will have a chance to explore the park on foot. We will start with a nature walk through the park’s lush vegetation. The nature walk is an excellent opportunity to see several primate species, including chimpanzees, baboons, and monkeys. We will also have a chance to see several bird species as we walk through the forest.
After the nature walk, we will hike to the top of the falls. The hike takes about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on your fitness level. The hike is strenuous, but the view from the top is worth it. The top of the falls offers a panoramic view of the park and the Nile River as it flows through the rocky landscape.
Day 4: Departure
On the final day of the trip, we will have breakfast and check out of the lodge. We will begin the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is the only place in Uganda where you can see Rhinoceros in the wild. After the visit to the sanctuary, we will continue with the journey to your final destination.
